CEDAR, PORT ORFORD

Light yellow to a pale brown color with a thin, hard to distinguish sap wood. It is fine textured with a pungent, ginger-like smell. This stock is pulled for mostly clear boards and is surfaced four sides.

FIR, DOUGLAS

One of the stronger softwoods, widely used for structural purposes. Sapwood is white to pale yellow, heartwood is orange-red with high contrast betwen earlywood and latewood. Straight grained and moderately hard. Used widely in construction, laminated timbers, plywood and high grade veneer, interior trim, cabinet work, pallets, boxes, ladders and flooring.

PINE, EASTERN WHITE

A soft and weak pine, with straight grain, fine even texture and inconspicuous annual growth rings. It is pale yellow to pale brown in color, with fine resin-duct marks. It is noted for its low shrinkage and stability but is not durable. Cabinet grade features fixed width with sound tight red knots selected for appearance. Furniture grade is random width with a combination of live and dead knots (red and black in color) giving it a very rustic appearance.

PINE, SOUTHERN YELLOW

Orange to reddish brown in color and resinous. The growth rings are clearly marked by the contrast between the light earlywood and darker, more dense latewood, giving a coarse texture. Has identical strength properties to Douglas fir. This stock is fixed width and graded C & Better giving it a mostly clear appearance.
