Golden orange to brown with lighter vessel lines on flat sawn stock. Grain is interlocked and sometimes irregular and the texture is even but rather coarse. Machining is satisfactory with severe blunting on cutters. The wood glues satisfactorily and when the grain is filled an excellent finish can be obtained. A good substitute for Teak. AFRICA

Creamy white and straight grained. It is less lustrous than Hard Maple and the growth rings are comparatively indistinct. The rays are narrower and less conspicuous pith flecks are more frequently present. Machines very well both flat and end grain and finishes perfectly. Sorted for white 1 face cutting, a great less expensive substitute for Hard Maple. USA

Varies in color from pale yellow-brown to biscuit with a greyish-pinkish tint. It is straight grained with a medium to coarse texture. Machines well but gluing properties can be variable.
