Known as Tiger Wood in the states, this wood is reddish-brown with a richly mottled color. It has dark brown streaks and spots, similar to

MACASSAR EBONY

Dark brown to black in color, streaked throughout with greyish-brown, yellow-brown or pale-brown. With fine and even texture the grain is mostly straight. Heavy, dense and very hard it is used mostly for decorative purpose, where strength properties are of minor importance. This wood varies from a yellow brown to a rich brown and frequently may show streaks of dark color which eventually fade with age. With a straight and coarse grain the wood has a distinctly oily feel. Teak machines moderately but has considerable dulling effect on cutters. Glues and finishes satisfactorily but can have bonding problem during the finishing process. Intrinsically,Teak is one of the most valuable of all woods.
